Visiting Bordeaux in one day, you can do it !
If you’re passing by Bordeaux city and you don’t have much time, you can focus on the main monuments of the historical center which are close to each other. Thanks to our program, you will discover the city in record time !
This one day city tour of Bordeaux can be done completely on foot or by bicycle ( you can rent a VCUB for the day)

To start the day , go for a walk on the quays to admire the beauty of the « Miroir d’eau ».
In front of it, you can discover the magnificent facade of the quays and the famous « Place de la Bourse » which is the most photographed monument in Bordeaux.

Now , go to the « Place du Parlement », which once housed the Royal Market!
If the sun is here, we suggest you to take a cup of coffee at the terrace of « Chez Karl », opened 7 days a week, to give you some energy before getting on with your Bordeaux tour.
You can admire the splendid view from the terrace, because you are facing Bordeaux’s typical facades, fulfilled with sculptures and mascarons.

It’s about time to get to the majestic « Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux », also named « Opéra », which is on the « Place de la Comédie ». Built in the 18th century by the architect Victor Louis, it is one of the masterpieces of the Bordeaux’s architecture. To get there, nothing is more simple, you have to reach the « Saint-Rémi » street (bustling with restaurants) and at the top of it you have to turn on your right on the « Piliers de Tutelle » street . At the end of this one, you will see the Opera (walking time : about 6 minutes).

Here you are, on the « Place de la Comédie ». In front of you, you can see the « Grand Théâtre » and behind you there is the « Grand Hôtel » of Bordeaux. In the extension of this square you have the « Allées de Tourny » which houses a Christmas market every year. On the opposite, is the famous street « Sainte-Catherine », considered as the longuest pedestrian shopping street in Europe!
For your viewing pleasure and the appeal of gluttony, we advise you to visit the « Larnicol » shop , which is at the corner of the « Cours de l’Intendance » and next to the restaurant « Côté cuisine ». Chocolates creations are stunning and playful: fish, small characters, bottle of wine and champagne… Not to mention delicious macaroons with subtle flavours as rose, vanilla, raspberry, almond, chocolate…
Regarding the price, you can count around 5 euros per 100 grams which is about 6 macaroons.

Explore the « Triangle d’Or » of Bordeaux, a chic and traditional neighborhood!
You can have a walk on the « Cours de l’Intendance » which houses nice brands: Lancel, Repetto, Tara Jarmon, Louis Vuitton, Bordeaux Pens and many others …
Another idea, is to join the « Grands Hommes » market located in the center of the district and discover its magnificent glass roof.

You have a sudden desire of going through a book ?!You can go to discover the biggest bookshop of Bordeaux on the « Vital Carles »street. Welcome to « Mollat » ! As soon as you enter, the fragrance of books captivates you and you don’t know where to start : there is too many choices ! Scientific literature, detective fiction, novels, fine books, there is one for everyone’s taste… Here, the time is suspended and you are immersed in a pleasant atmosphere. Good plan to know: there is a space dedicated to books concerning Bordeaux.

After all these discoveries, you might be looking for a nice and original place for lunch. We advise you to lunch at the restaurant « Scopitone » which is a inavoidable address for good food lovers. Located in a narrow street (5 street de la vieille Tour, next to the « Cours de l’Intendance »), « Scopitone ». Once inside, the change of satmosphere is immediate. The vintage look of the place leaves no one indifferent! You won’t find such a fine and unique restaurant elsewhere in Bordeaux !
The cheapest menu is about 16 euros. It’s very correct and the service is of good quality. it’s to put on your « To do List », if you want to try a unique and out of time restaurant in Bordeaux.

After this lunch break, we advise you to go to the « Saint-André » cathedral, on the « place Pey Berland ». To get there the shortest way is to get down the« Vital Carles » street . Do not hesitate to enter inside the cathedral to discover the beauty of the nave and sculptures.

If you are brave, you can launch an attack on the « Tour Pey Berland », which can be visited if you are ready to climb more than 230 steps ! The view at the top is breathtaking !
Open from 29 September to 31 May, every day except Mondays from 10 am to 12.30 pm and from 2 pm to 5.30 pm. From June to September, every day from 10 am to 1:15 pm and from 2 pm to 6 pm. The last visit is 30 minutes before closing.

You are close to several museums of the city: museum of Aquitaine, museum of the decorative arts, museum of Beaux arts, the choice is vast… So it’s time to visit!

Before leaving the city, treat yourself with an aperitif (Lillet is the local specialty) in one of the many wine bars in Bordeaux.
Among the most pleasant we can cite:

- « Au quatre coins du vin », located in the district of « Saint Pierre »
